In 130 days I will boarding a plane starting the trip of my adult life. If you have kept up with my -infrequent- blog, you know ever since Rwanda I have known that there is something more to live for. Something beyond the comforts of our everyday American lives. I have talked about wanting to just go to Africa, forget any reservations and just do it. Well, that time is now! Well...four months from now! :) I will be heading out with Experience Mission on their IMMERSION trip. That means 6 months of African living...I mean tents, bucket showers, water with some dirt and lots of Jesus like love! It has been hard to fully accept, because fear is real and intimidation is knocking at my door. I have been one to describe myself as a Moses and the burning bush:
"Are you sure, God? Me? But I am not a good speaker...I can't do it alone ... I am not powerful enough, God. You have the wrong person."
But I refuse to live by fear! I am stepping out with faith. God has brought me to this opportunity by no mistake and I am taking it on! I am going with an open heart, and excited heart. This will no doubt stretch me beyond anything I have done before, but I am stoked. I love it when God brings me to the end of myself and what I think I can handle. It is in those times that he chuckles at me and says "here...watch me." Isn't He great?
This week has made this whole trip so much more real! We have started a Facebook group for our team to start getting to know one another and share our ideas, encouragements and such. That is when it hit me that this is really happening and God is already moving in this. He is moving and growing in my teammates, in our group as a whole and I know He is preparing hearts all around the world for those we come in contact with. There is no way we will come back the same people and I pray that we don't leave the places we visit the same either. I can almost feel God's eagerness to move in power through our group and I can barely stand waiting anymore! Let's do this! :)
So, follow this blog over the next few months as I update on my fundraising, preparations and feelings about the trip! Woo hoo! Also, I will updating my blog as we travel around as much as I can! I don't think internet will be the easiest thing to find...and honestly...I am perfectly okay with that!
I do have money to raise to make this trip possible. If you would like to make a financial donation the directions are at the bottom of my home page. As of now I have 2,100.00 of the 8,800.00 I will need, praise God! My hear is already full knowing you have read this post this far, and your help means more to me than you can possibly know. Please know that your prayers are even more influential! Will you please join me in praying that God's Kingdom will be seriously impacted as our team prepares for this trip! We serve a mighty God and I am super excited to see just how He moves through all of us!
