One of my best friends/roommates from college got engaged!!! I am so excited for them and it was just such a blessing to be there with her for such a special night and most of our "group" was there to catch up since all going separate ways since graduating in May. As we were eating dinner and having such an adult conversation about health care, politics and such, we started talking about God's soverignty. It led to an awesome discussion on God's role in trials, troubles, and traumas. We were talking about how powerful The Lord is and even in the most difficult trials we go through He is waiting eagerly to shower us with His love, faithfulness and peace. It immediately led us to talking about worship songs that have touched us in the last few weeks ... in such a God way ... all three of the songs mentioned were off the SAME album AND all three spoke to each of us at some point in the recent weeks. It was so awesome! We were slightly freaking out, going "OH! I KNOW THAT ONE, IT GOES LIKE ... " Then we played a few off my phone, using a glass cup as a microphone...(yes, in a restaurant. yes, it works).
The album is Matt Redman's, 10,000 Reasons. Seriously incredible worship songs. One that we talked about was Never Once. It speaks such truth and I just wanted to share it with you! It is just awesome to meditate on. At the same time that it moves me to tears, it motivates me to GO! To MOVE! He is with us through everything ... we have NOTHING to fear! God is a good, but life isn't always easy. He never promised us that following Him would only bring blessings. It is going to bring trials, when we accept Christ He changes us in a way that is challenging, but completely incredibly awesome and enriching! There is no better way to live life ... in fact anything outside of Him isn't life at all. So we can face life and the obstacles in trust and faith, we aren't alone and He holds us so tenderly in all moments of our lives. Seriously!! How can we be so numb to realize this and not fall to our knees? The God who created everything, who runs the universe, cares. He so loves YOU that He never wants to be away from you. He is the clingiest of the clingy and its the best!
